FORTRESS GROUT

FORTRESS GROUT™ is an ultra high strength, flow-able grout engineered to achieve exceptional load bearing capabilities. When used in conjunction with standard and / or FORTRESS Block and Mortar masonry applications, mini-pile and caisson designs, FORTRESS GROUT™ provides an increased structural stability for carrying vertical loads. FORTRESS GROUT™ is a single component powder that is water activated. It provides 2 hours of working/handling time and will reach compressive strengths of more than 5,000 psi in 24 hours and more than 10,000 in 28 days. FORTRESS GROUT™ is a large volume grout that has been designed for use with a standard grout / mortar mixer and is suitable for critical grouting applications in the most demanding of applications.

Recommended Uses
Strengthening and stabilizing the foundation of existing structures, increased bearing capacity of new foundation construction, machine bedplates, anchor bolts, recesses, gaps, cavities and general purpose grouting.

Site Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, sound and free of dust, ice, oils, grease or other surface contaminants such as curing membranes and form release agents. Bolt holes and fixing pockets should be free of dirt and debris by air blasting. The formwork used must be leak proof to allow for free flowing grout. The formwork should be setup so that grout head is maintained on the side above the level of the underside of the base plate. This will allow gravity flow to completely fill the void to be gouted. Formwork should be coated with form release oil to allow for easy removal of forms. Ensure that adequate air holes are provided. All prepared surfaces must be saturated ( SSD) several hours prior to grouting. Grouit site must not have standing water or puddles.

Mixing Instructions
Standard Mixing Procedures (Rotating Blade Grout or Mortar Mixer)

  • Determine volume of FORTRESS GROUT™ required for project
  • Pre-wet grout mixer with clean water then drain all water from mixer (away from placement area)
  • Use 3 quarts of water per 74 lb. bag of FORTRESS GROUT
  • Mix for 4 minutes

      Notes:
  1. FORTRESS GROUT™ requires 1 unit (150 ml of ADVA 190 liquid admixture) per bag of grout used.

Add admixture to mix water before mixing water with grout

Application and Finish
  • Working times are influenced by ambient & surface temperatures. For optimum performance, maintain grout, concrete and / or steel substrates to within a range of 32°F /2°C and 90°F/32°C prior to, during and for 48 hours after placement of grout.
  • At low temperatures ( below 50°F/10°C) grout setting time is extended and bleeding may occur. Base plate contact may be reduced as a result.
  • At high temperatures (above 86°F/30°C) grout setting time is reduced, affecting placement. it is recommended that grouting at high temperatures be protected from direct sun and heat or be placed early in the morning. Keep materials cool and use cold water for mixing.
  • Self-curing
  • Clean all tools and equipment with water prior to the material reaching final set.
